My hommage to the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival of Hawaii and inspired by a recent trip to Aotearoa (New Zealand) for a Gathering of Indigenous Artists. This Hula dancing Wahine is wearing a grass skirt of malachite and a paua shell top. Hand cut and carved fossil ivory depict her legs arms and scrimshawed face. To emulate dancing, her hips swing gently. Part of a set, these items are sold seperately.
